[Monique Forestier]

Nickname: froggo

Hometown: Blue Mountains, Australia

Past Achievements: First Australian woman to climb a grade 32 route. First person to onsight the Totem Pole, Tasmania. National Difficulty Climbing Champion.

Other Sponsors: Sterling Rope (USA), Scarpa Shoes (Italy), Marmot Gear (through Larry Adler Australia), Black Diamond (through Sea to Summit Australia).

Fav place to climb: I'm hooked on the Red River Gorge (Kentucky USA), awesome stuff I just got back from there and I can't wait to go back for more. I also like Terradets in Spain, a great limestone crag with interesting tufa climbing very different to what we have here.

Best climbing experience: Definitely climbing the Totem Pole (Tas), when I first saw images of the 'Tote' I was amazed, I thought the climbers were out of their minds and I thought it was something that I would never ever do. And so when I actually climbed it I was buzzing for days.

Other Hobbies: Swimming, painting, playing with my dog Ziggy, bush walking with friends.

Fav quote: "When I let go of my fear of failure I had nothing to loose".

Monique is on top of the Climbing world by breaking numerous records. Monique travels the world seeking harder routes and her passion is 'Onsight' climbing. 'Onsight' means to climb a route on your first attempt without falling and without detailed prior knowledge of the difficulties. She was the first person to onsight the legendary Totem pole in Tasmania, a 65 metre free standing dolerite column. She was the first Australian woman to onsight a grade 32 route, and is also the Australian Difficulty Climbing National Champion. Monique has recently returned home after climbing at Joshua Tree National Park USA, a rock climbers Mecca and continues to dominate climbing
